Robert Nesta “Bob” Marley was a singer, guitarist, and song writer from Jamaica. He formed the band Bob Marley and the Wailers. He still remains today not only to be the best known and best-selling performing artist of reggae music, but one of the most influential musicians of all time. He ultimately contributed to bringing light to Jamaica, black empowerment, the Rastafarian movement and bringing popularity to the reggae genre outside of Jamaica. His music will live on forever, breaking through cultural and national boundaries, and touching the lives of millions. The first third-world international superstar, his work dealt with many struggles and issues, especially social and economic injustice, which made him a voice for the poor and powerless.
